  Itwas,therefore,perfectlyclearthatsomebodywouldbecommittedtoprisonthisveryday。Therewas,therefore,amongthelaughing,richly-attired,andjestingguestsofthiscourt,onewhothisverynight,whenheleftthesehallsradiantwithsplendorandpleasure,wastobeholdthedarkandgloomychambersoftheTower。
  Theonlyquestionwas,whothatonewasforwhomthebrilliantcomedyofthiseveningwastobechangedtososadadrama。

  Totheking,thisexcursion,whichhehadtomakeonfoot,hadbeenverytroublesome;andthisinconveniencehadmadehimonlystillmorefuriousandexcited,andthelasttraceofcompassionforhisqueenhaddisappearedfromtheking'sbreast,foronCatharine'saccounthehadbeenobligedtomakethislongjourneytothegreen-
