  Also,nowthathehasseenthemmoreclosely,heknowsbetterthenatureofthosewolvesinsheep’sclothing,whoarethirstingforthebloodoftheirvictim,andexultingsoclamorouslyoveritsanticipatedearlyfallintotheirclutches。ThespiritbehindtheChurchistrue,thoughherletter——trueonce——isnowtruenolonger。
  ThespiritbehindtheHighPriestsofScienceisaslyingasitsletter。TheTheobalds,whodowhattheydobecauseitseemstobethecorrectthing,butwhointheirheartsneitherlikeitnorbelieveinit,areinrealitytheleastdangerousofallclassestothepeaceandlibertiesofmankind。Themantofearishewhogoesatthingswiththecocksurenessofpushingvulgarityandself-
  conceit。ThesearenotviceswhichcanbejustlylaidtothechargeoftheEnglishclergy。
