AtsuchtimesIcouldnothelpremarkingandadmiringalthoughfromhisrichidealityIhadbeenpreparedtoexpectitapeculiaranalyticabilityinDupin。Heseemed,too,totakeaneagerdelightinitsexercise-ifnotexactlyinitsdisplay-anddidnothesitatetoconfessthepleasurethusderived。Heboastedtome,withalowchucklinglaugh,thatmostmen,inrespecttohimself,worewindowsintheirbosoms,andwaswonttofollowupsuchassertionsbydirectandverystartlingproofsofhisintimateknowledgeofmyown。
