　　Thesetwopersonagesthrewoutgraveandcomicnonsensealternately，whiletheirmaster，laughingorapplaudingthemhimself，yetcarefullywatchedthecountenanceofhisnobleguest，todiscernwhatimpressionssoaccomplishedacavalierreceivedfromthisdisplayofAustrianeloquenceandwit。Itishardtosaywhetherthemanofwisdomorthemanoffollycontributedmosttotheamusementoftheparty，orstoodhighestintheestimationoftheirprincelymaster；butthesalliesofbothseemedexcellentlywellreceived。Sometimestheybecamerivalsfortheconversation，andclangedtheirflappersinemulationofeachother，withamostalarmingcontention；but，ingeneral，theyseemedonsuchgoodterms，andsoaccustomedtosupporteachother’splay，thatthe_spruch-sprecher_oftencondescendedtofollowupthejester’switticismswithanexplanation，torenderthemmoreobvioustothecapacityoftheaudience；

　　Whateverhisrealsentimentsmightbe，Conradetookespecialcarethathiscountenanceshouldexpressnothingbutsatisfactionwithwhatheheard，andsmiledorapplaudedaszealously，toallappearance，astheArchdukehimself，atthesolemnfollyofthe_spruch-sprecher，_andthegibberingwitofthefool。Infact，hewatchedcarefullyuntiltheoneorothershouldintroducesometopic，favourabletothepurposewhichwasuppermostinhismind。
