Doesheeveraskhimself,whenhestretcheswidehisclericalpalmtoreceivethepayofsomedozenoftheworkingclergy,forwhatserviceheissoremunerated?Doeshisconscienceeverentertainthequestionofhisrighttosuchsubsidies?Orisitpossiblethatthesubjectneversopresentsitselftohismind;thathehasreceivedformanyyears,andintends,shouldGodsparehim,toreceiveforyearstocomethesefruitsoftheindustriouspietyofpastages,indifferentastoanyrightonhisownpart,orofanyinjusticetoothers!WemustexpressanopinionthatnowherebutintheChurchofEngland,andonlythereamongitspriests,couldsuchastateofmoralindifferencebefound。’
