  Thenatthedawning,asdaywasbreaking,themightofGrendeltomenwasknown;
  thenafterwassailwaswailuplifted,loudmoaninthemorn。Themightychief,athelingexcellent,unblithesat,laboredinwoeforthelossofhisthanes,whenoncehadbeentracedthetrailofthefiend,spiritaccurst:toocruelthatsorrow,toolong,tooloathsome。Notlatetherespite;
