  HisfaceandwholefigurereallywereridiculousatthatmomentandamplyjustifiedRaskolnikov'slaughter。Raskolnikov,notwaitingforanintroduction,bowedtoPorfiryPetrovitch,whostoodinthemiddleoftheroomlookinginquiringlyatthem。Heheldouthishandandshookhands,stillapparentlymakingdesperateeffortstosubduehismirthandutterafewwordstointroducehimself。ButhehadnosoonersucceededinassumingaseriousairandmutteringsomethingwhenhesuddenlyglancedagainasthoughaccidentallyatRazumihin,andcouldnolongercontrolhimself:hisstifledlaughterbrokeoutthemoreirresistiblythemorehetriedtorestrainit。TheextraordinaryferocitywithwhichRazumihinreceivedthis“spontaneous“mirthgavethewholescenetheappearanceofmostgenuinefunandnaturalness。Razumihinstrengthenedthisimpressionasthoughonpurpose。
