  MissCrawfordsmiledherperfectapprobation;andhastenedtocompletethegiftbyputtingthenecklaceroundher,andmakingherseehowwellitlooked。Fannyhadnotawordtosayagainstitsbecomingness,and,exceptingwhatremainedofherscruples,wasexceedinglypleasedwithanacquisitionsoveryapropos。Shewouldrather,perhaps,havebeenobligedtosomeotherperson。Butthiswasanunworthyfeeling。MissCrawfordhadanticipatedherwantswithakindnesswhichprovedherarealfriend。
