Sotheybeatthempitifully，andhangedironsuponthem，andledtheminchainsupanddownthefair，foranexampleandaterrortoothers，lestanyshouldspeakintheirbehalf，orjointhemselvesuntothem。
ButChristianandFaithfulbehavedthemselvesyetmorewisely，andreceivedtheignominyandshamethatwascastuponthem，withsomuchmeeknessandpatience，thatitwontotheirside，thoughbutfewincomparisonoftherest，severalofthemeninthefair。Thisputtheotherpartyyetintogreaterrage，insomuchthattheyconcludedthedeathofthesetwomen。
Whereforetheythreatened，thatthecagenorironsshouldservetheirturn，butthattheyshoulddie，fortheabusetheyhaddone，andfordeludingthemenofthefair。
Thenweretheyremandedtothecageagain，untilfurtherordershouldbetakenwiththem。Sotheyputthemin，andmadetheirfeetfastinthestocks。
